چکیده

Infrared spectra of the mass selected ionic complexes H2–HCO 1 and D2–DCO 1 have been recorded in the vicinity of their n1 vibrations ~H2 /D2 stretch! by means of photofragmentation spectroscopy. The anomalous rotational constants obtained by fitting the observed line positions to a semirigid Watson A-type Hamiltonian reflect the appreciable zero-point excursions of the H2 /D2 molecule. Barriers for this internal motion are estimated utilizing a simple atom–diatom hindered rotor Hamiltonian. According to this one-dimensional model, the barrier increases by about 15% upon vibrational excitation which is mainly attributed to electrostatic effects. © 1997 American Institute of Physics. @S0021-9606~97!00344-9#

Deuterated molecules as a probe of ionization fraction in dense interstellar clouds

The ionization degree x(e) (= n(e)/n(H2), with n(e) and n(H2) the electron and H2 number density, respectively) plays a key role in the chemical and dynamical evolution of interstellar clouds. Gas phase ion–molecule reactions are major chemical routes to the formation of interstellar molecules. The time scale for ambipolar diffusion of neutrals across field lines is proportional to the ionizati...

Millimeter-wave time-resolved studies of HCO+-H2 inelastic collisions.

A novel ion cell has been constructed for the purpose of studying rotationally inelastic collisions involving truly thermal molecular ions at low temperatures. With this ion cell, time-resolved double resonance (pump-probe) spectroscopic experiments have been performed to determine the cross sections for relaxation of the J = 2 state of HCO+ in collisions with normal-H2 at temperatures around 4...

Products of the Self-Reaction of HCO Radicals: Theoretical Kinetics Studies

The mechanism of the self-reaction of HCO radicals is investigated by using high-level quantum-chemical methods including M05-2X, CCSD, CCSD(T) and CRCC(2,3). Next, the rate coefficients for several product channels as a function of pressure and temperature are computed by employing statistical rate theories. Four important product channels are predicted to be CO + CO + H2, HCOH + OH, cis-(HCO)...

Determination of the Very High Barriers to Conformational Processes by the Neat Racemization Technique. Part 1: Barriers to Ring Inversion in Dibenzo [a,c] Dinaphtho [2,3-e; 2,3-g] Cyclooctatetraene and Hindered Rotation in 2,2'-Dimethyl Binaphthyl

A method is described by which it is possible to determine the high barrier to ring inversion and hindered rotation by neat racemization of optically active compounds when the racemization is caused by ring inversion or hindered rotation. The method is based preparation of sufficiently pure enantiomers, mainly by chromatography on swollen microcrystalline triacetylcellulose (TAC). By this t...

Novel CdCl2 and HgCl2 complexes with 3-monosubstituted and 3,3-disubstituted 1-furoylthioureas: IR and Raman spectra.

Two series of coordination complexes of CdCl(2) and HgCl(2) with 3-monosubstituted and 3,3-disubstituted 1-furoylthioureas were prepared and characterized. These complexes were obtained with a medium to high yield from ethanolic solutions of both ligand and salt. The formed complex results from the salt-ligand interaction with participation of both the salt anion and cation. Information on the ...
